HOME NOTES / No. 01
A small bathroom can still feel like home.
When the shower door opens into a tight patch of floor, the little choices matter. Five ways to make that space feel calmer — without changing the whole room.
Make space for your everyday
More slow mornings.
More little moments.
THE EVERYDAY, A LITTLE MORE CONSIDERED
You don’t need a bigger bathroom to feel more at ease in it.
Start with the space you actually use.
You step out of the shower. The door needs room to open, the towel is just out of reach, and somehow the floor already feels crowded. If that sounds familiar, this little read is for you.
A small bathroom doesn’t need to look like a magazine spread to work for your day. Start with what gets in your way, keep what you like, and make each choice fit the space you really have.
A SOFTER START
Work with the light you have.
Maybe your bathroom gets a stripe of morning sun. Maybe it has no window at all. Either way, you can make the light you have feel more considered.
Clear the mirror, move anything blocking the window, or choose a gentler light for evenings while keeping the mirror bright enough for getting ready. No grand makeover required.
Stand where you usually get ready. Is the light helping you there?
ONLY WHAT EARNS ITS PLACE
Keep what feels good.
In a smaller room, every object takes up some of the space you move through. So pick a few things you genuinely enjoy using: a soft towel, a familiar colour, a hook in the right place.
Texture can come from something you already own. It doesn’t need to mean another basket on the floor or one more thing to step around.
The best choice is the one that fits
A NOTE FROM ADORE BATH
the space you actually have.
THE SPOT THAT MATTERS MOST
Start at the shower exit.
Open the shower door fully. Look at where your feet naturally land, what the door passes over, and where you reach for your towel. That little patch of floor deserves more thought than a product photo can give it.
If you’re choosing anything for the floor, measure the clear space first — including the door swing. The right dimensions for a picture aren’t always the right dimensions for your bathroom.
Open the door, mark out the clear floor area, and measure it before choosing a size.
A LITTLE BREATHING ROOM
Clear one surface.
You don’t need an empty bathroom. Just one spot that isn’t asking you to move something before you can use it. The basin edge, a shelf, or the space beside the shower is enough.
Keep what you reach for every day nearby. Give the rest a home out of the way. It’s a small change, but you’ll feel it the next time you’re rushing to get ready.
THE PART THAT’S JUST FOR YOU
Keep a moment for you.
Set the towel where you can reach it. Put on a song you like. Take one unhurried breath before opening the door to the rest of the day.
The room may still be small. It can still feel like yours.
A little space. A little more ease.
